As a community often impacted by hurricanes and tropical storms, Coastal Mississippi truly understands the challenges these times can bring. We warmly welcome evacuees, offering a safe haven to weather the storm.

Arts & Culture

From renowned artists to local artists, the Gulf Coast has gathered quite the collection. Discover the masterpiece of Coastal Mississippi in one of our local museums.

The Walter Anderson Museum of Art (WAMA) captures the natural beauty of the Gulf Coast and frames it for your viewing pleasure. It’s also home to his brother Peter Anderson’s (founder of Shearwater Pottery) pottery collection and brother James McConnell Anderson’s paintings and ceramic pieces.

Also putting pottery on the map, the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art (OOMA) is home to the work of the self-proclaimed “Mad Potter of Biloxi.” Designed by Frank Gehry, it was selected by TIME as one of the top five architectural designs in the world for the 2008 “Style & Design 100” issue. An afternoon browsing the OOMA’s “Ohr-iginal” pieces will be an afternoon well spent.
