Sensory Sundays

Children on the autism spectrum and their families can visit the museum during Sensory Friendly Days, the second Sunday of each month from 10am – 12pm. They will have the opportunity to have a fun, enjoyable and interactive learning experience in a comfortable and accepting environment! This exclusive free event includes modifications of a less crowded environment and light and sound reduction.

For guests who have sensory processing needs:

Lynn Meadows Discovery Center has partnered with KultureCity® to enhance our ability to assist and accomodate guests with sensory needs. Our goal is to provide an inclusive experience for all guests during all events. We strive to raise awareness of the needs and challenges faced by individuals with sensory processing needs by supplying our staff with annual training and by offering the resources and accomodations below to our guests.

KultureCity® Sensory bags
KultureCity® Sensory bags containing special KCVIP badges, feeling thermometer, fidget tools, and noise-canceling headphones are available for checkout (at no cost by leaving an ID) at our front desk located in the Admissions building. Sensory bags can be used for all abilities of all ages.
We have one weighted lap pad available upon request (at no cost by leaving an ID) at our front desk located in the Admissions building. 

Quiet Areas
Quiet areas are located on the first floor in the Artist Studio and the second floor in The Sensory Space and Respite Room.

Headphone Zones
Headphone zones(loud areas) are located on the first floor at The Port and on the second floor at It’s a Matter of Science.
