About
Volunteers will place the wreaths, pause with their hand over their heart or salute and then speak the person's name. That's because a person dies two deaths - the physical death and the death when people stop speaking our names. This ceremony keeps our veterans from dying the second death.
These ceremonies take place, across the nation on this same day at this same time. The wreaths are identical, all made of fresh balsam fir adorned with a red bow and made by the Worchester Wreath Company in Maine. Wreaths will lay throughout the Christmas season, and volunteers will remove them on Saturday, January 14, 2023. If you'd like to volunteer, please notify Ann or Deidre.
Wreaths for veterans buried in Griffin Cemetery (250+) cost $15 each and can be ordered at www.wreathsacrossamerica.org or by an application from Ann or Deidre mailed with a check to Wreaths Across America, P O Box 249, Columbus Falls, ME 04623 using GROUP ID: MS0063P. Wreaths can be grave specific (be sure to notify Ann or Deidre) (most wreaths are donated).
Mission Statement of Wreaths Across America "to remember our fallen U.S. Veterans to honor those who serve and to trach our children the value of freedom".
