The Gulfport City-Wide Juneteenth Celebration proudly announces its partnership with the City of Gulfport for the inaugural City-Wide Commencement of Juneteenth. This collaborative effort aims to foster unity and awareness surrounding the historical significance of Juneteenth.

Scheduled for Wednesday, June 19 at 10:00 a.m. on the steps of City Hall, the event will commence with cultural entertainment and reflection on the significance of Juneteenth. Mayor Billy Hewes will extend greetings, heralding a week-long celebration honoring Juneteenth.

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. It holds profound significance in acknowledging the struggles and achievements of Black Americans throughout history.

The City-Wide Commencement of Juneteenth seeks to educate the community on the importance of this holiday while promoting unity and collaboration among residents of Gulfport. Through engaging entertainment and educational speakers, attendees will have the opportunity to learn, celebrate, and reflect on the journey toward freedom and equality.

As we come together to honor Juneteenth, the City of Gulfport and the Gulfport City-Wide Juneteenth Celebration reaffirm their commitment to fostering inclusivity, diversity, and understanding within the community.
