About

The public is invited to a reception for the Exhibit - Gulf Coast Vietnamese Narratives: A Story of Refuge and Resilience of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Vietnamese.

Using pictures and stories, this exhibit shares the journeys of the brave men and women who fled Vietnam after the fall of Saigon on April 30, 1975, and found their futures in the Seafood Industry of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Through sheer determination and resilience, the Vietnamese Community became an integral part of the tapestry of the Gulf Coast, woven from the many diverse cultures and heritages that have come before.

Attendees will meet the founders of the Gulf Coast Vietnamese Narratives, Emma Phuong To and Jennifer Le, Photojournalist, Tim Isbell, and National Geographic cover girl featured in the 1981 article "Troubled Odyssey of the Vietnamese Fishermen", Anh Vu.

Light refreshments will be served. Admission to Reception is free.
