About
"Gulf Coast Vietnamese Narratives: A Story of Refuge and Resilience of the Gulf Coast Vietnamese" shares the journeys of the men, women and children from the Fall of Saigon, in 1975, to their settling on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Through their hard work, the Vietnamese people were able adapt and assimilate, becoming part of the rich tapestry of diverse cultures and heritages that have formed the Gulf Coast's Seafood Industry since the late 1800's. Their stories are shared through this captivating collection of images and narratives on display in the Joe Moran Gallery of the Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum in Biloxi, Mississippi (This project was funded by a grant from the MS Humanities Council)
A reception for this exhibit will be held on May 3, 4pm-6 pm. The public is invited to view the exhibit and meet the Founders of GCVN - Emma Phuong To and Jennifer Le, Photojournalist - Tim Isbell, and Covergirl of National Geographic 1981 Article "Troubled Odyssey of Vietnamese Fishermen" - Anh Vu. Light refreshments will be served, and admission is waived for this reception.
