Annual Taste of South Mississippi

You asked, and we listened! For the first two years, The Salvation Army presented Taste of Biloxi, which turned into a tremendous success. Restaurants all over South Mississippi requested to participate in the event to show their support for The Salvation Army. This meant we were going beyond our "Taste of Biloxi" name, but we had an easy solution - include restaurants and sponsors from all six counties we serve and call the event, "Taste of South Mississippi!"

In 2020, we had no choice but to cancel the event due to COVID-19. In 2021 and 2022 we held virtual events; these years were impacted by a loss of donations and the number of children/families we can serve in the community. In 2023, we came back, LIVE & IN PERSON! We had a record-breaking event, raising nearly $30,000 in donations and in-kind gifts!

This evening gives our 500+ guests a chance to explore The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Community Center while also sampling foods from the best restaurants South Mississippi has to offer, enjoy live entertainment, and bid on silent auction items.

This year, with the inflation impacting our community and those we serve, our fundraising goal is $45,000. All Taste of South Mississippi proceeds remain in the community to benefit Kroc Center programs and scholarship fund. This includes providing children opportunities to participate in sports, art, music, camp, swimming, and more! PLUS, the Kroc Center has an open-door policy that nobody will be turned away due to an inability to pay. Therefore, your donation will benefit children and families who otherwise could not join.
